--- title: Requesting indexing again won’t fix “Crawled – currently not indexed” description: Google has already fetched these pages and chosen not to keep them. Asking again changes nothing. The useful question is what the kept pages have that these don’t. url: https://tanujsharma.xyz/notes/request-indexing-wont-fix-crawled-not-indexed author: Tanuj Sharma published: 2026-10-15 --- # Requesting indexing again won’t fix “Crawled – currently not indexed” If Search Console lists a page as “Crawled – currently not indexed”, Google has already found it and fetched it. It then decided not to keep it. Pressing “Request indexing” again asks Google to do something it has already done. Google’s own help page says there is no need to keep resubmitting these URLs. On a large site, a better question is: what do the pages Google keeps have that the rejected ones don’t? Group the URLs by page template and compare the groups. The answer is usually in the page type, not in any single page. I’m working through this on a site with more than 400,000 of these URLs.
